Massage at home in Bucharest

In Bucharest, a manual therapy session at your home costs between 200 and 350 lei, depending on length and method. With Daniel Niculae, a 90–100 minute Yumeiho session costs 250 lei, with travel included anywhere inside the ring road. Beyond the ring road, in Ilfov, there's a 30 lei travel fee. Sessions are available daily, 8:00–22:00, in English or Romanian.

Clinic vs. at home

The price difference isn't a drop in quality. A clinic pays rent, reception and utilities, and splits the day into short slots to make the maths work. At your home the fixed cost disappears, and the session can take as long as it actually needs.

What should be included

• Travel — at least within the city. A fee that looks low and then grows with "transport" is simply a higher fee, quoted in two parts.
• A professional mat and clean linen. Nobody should be working on your bed or on a towel spread over the carpet.
• The initial assessment — the first minutes spent looking at you before anything starts.
• The advice at the end — two or three simple movements you can do on your own between sessions.

What you need at home

A corner of a room about the size of a mat, loose clothes, and that's it. The mat, towels and everything else come with the therapist. No massage table is needed, and a carpet or parquet floor is perfectly fine. Apartments, houses and hotel rooms all work.

Vetting someone before you let them in

You're inviting a stranger into your home, in a city you may not know well. Three minutes of checking is worth it:

• Can they show a qualification? A diploma, a certificate, membership of an association. Not "10 years of experience" — a document.
• Do they name the method clearly? "Therapeutic massage" is a category, not a method.
• Is the price complete from the start? Travel included, no extras appearing at the end.
• Do they ask you anything first? Someone who doesn't ask about diagnoses and pain history is working blind.
• Are there people who keep coming back? One client returning for years says more than ten five-star reviews.
